Inside Israel’s Army

Year: 2009 / Duration: 30 MINS/Production: FILM@11/ Director: Michele Mitchell/ Version Available: English

’Inside Israel’s Army’ examines the lives and thoughts of three members of Israel’s IDF reserve forces who served in the 2006 Lebanon War. Profoundly affected by their experiences, the three soldiers must reevaluate the reasons for going to war, and what exactly duty to one’s country means. "There’s a story here of a generation, mine and yours, that understands that the most important value is the value of life. We finally got that it’s not noble to die for our country," states Idan Motola, an Israeli army reservist. A lifetime of war is shaping the psyche of a nation where almost every able-bodied man and woman must serve in the military.
